The Cell
The cell can be defined as the smallest structural and functional unit of a living organism.
The cell is divided into 3 main parts:
- Plasma membrane.
- Cytoplasm.
- Nucleus.

1. The Plasma Membrane

The plasma membrane, or cell membrane, is a selectively permeable membrane that separates the internal environment of the cell from the external environment.
2. The Cytoplasm
The cytoplasm refers to the cellular content present between the cell membrane and the nucleus.
The cytoplasm has 2 components:
- The cytosol, which is the fluid portion of the cytoplasm.
- Organelles, which include all subcellular structures that performs specific functions within the cell.

3. The Nucleus

The nucleus is a large organelle that contains the genetic material of the cell.
